The connector accepts a bottom or top entry, which means the same part serves as a through-hole or surface-mount receptacle depending on board layout — the SMT tails are on the bottom, but the housing is open on both ends for the mating header to enter from either side.

The tin plating on the solder tails (12.0 µinch) is standard for SMT reflow — the tin wets well to the solder paste and the gold on the contact beam stays out of the solder joint.
