Product details

Vertical SMT Jack for Basic-Rate Telephony and Data

It accepts the standard RJ11, RJ12, RJ14, and RJ25 plug footprints — the 6p6c wiring scheme gives you all six conductors for two-line phone or combined voice-plus-data on a single cable. The housing is glass-filled polyamide (PA9T), rated for the reflow temperatures of lead-free solder processes. This jack is unshielded and carries a Cat3 rating. It is not intended for 100BASE-TX or higher-speed data where Cat5e or better is required. The solder retention feature uses extra tabs on the shield or housing that reflow-solder to the board, giving the jack mechanical anchorage against cable tug and vibration after assembly.

6P6C vs 6P4C — What the Extra Contacts Buy You

A 6P4C modular jack (four contacts in a six-position body) is common for single-line phone service. The 1-338086-3 is a 6P6C jack — all six positions are populated with contacts. That gives you two additional conductors for a second phone line, combined voice and data on the same cable, or a proprietary signalling pair.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between 6P6C and 6P4C connectors?

A 6P6C jack has all six contact positions populated, while a 6P4C jack has only the centre four contacts. The 1-338086-3 is 6P6C, giving you two extra conductors for a second phone line or combined voice-and-data wiring.
