Board-to-Cable/Wire Header for 15-Position Single-Row Layouts
The 1-640383-5: This 15-position unshrouded header from the MTA-156 series connects a wire harness to a PCB through a single row of square male pins on 0.156" (3.96mm) pitch. The through-hole solder tails lock into the board and the mating receptacle (typically an MTA-156 IDC or crimp housing) latches over the pins. The 0.400" (10.16mm) mating pin length gives the receptacle plenty of wipe for a reliable connection.
Pitch, Position Count, and Routing Fit
The single-row 15-position layout takes up about 2.34" (59.5mm) of board edge, leaving room for other connectors on a dense panel. Through-hole mounting gives the header a solid mechanical anchor — the solder joints handle the insertion and extraction forces from the mating receptacle without relying on surface-mount pads. The 0.125" (3.18mm) post length is standard for a 1/16" PCB; if your board is thicker, check the tail protrusion on the solder side.
Mating Half and Termination Options
This unshrouded header mates with MTA-156 receptacle housings (crimp or IDC types) that latch over the pins. The 0.400" (10.16mm) mating pin length accommodates standard MTA-156 receptacles. Termination is solder only on the header side; the wire side uses crimp or IDC contacts depending on the receptacle chosen.
