Right-angle header for board-to-wire harnesses
The 1-770972-0 is a 12-position, 2-row header from TE's Mini-Universal MATE-N-LOK series, designed for board-to-wire connections. The 4.14mm pitch and 0.163" row spacing keep the footprint compact enough for medium-density boards while still allowing 600VAC rating — the voltage ceiling is set by the housing creepage, not the contact spacing.
Without it, the solder joints take the full strain and can crack over repeated mate cycles.
Tin plating and temperature range
Tin is a workhorse for moderate mating cycles in dry indoor environments; it costs less than gold and the thick plating resists fretting corrosion in low-current signal circuits. The operating temperature range of -20°C to 85°C covers most indoor and under-hood automotive applications, but note the housing is nylon (PA) with UL94 V-0 flammability — it holds up to brief soldering heat but not continuous exposure above 85°C ambient.
That part carries 20 positions on a 4.20mm pitch with square pins, versus the 12-position 4.14mm pitch with circular pins on the 1-770972-0. Both headers use tin plating, locking ramp, and board lock features, and both are active.
