Shroud and latch: vibration-resistant mate
A 4-wall shroud surrounds the pins, preventing bent pins during blind mating and blocking accidental shorting against metal panels. The latch holder clicks into the mating receptacle — a half-turn loose on a threaded connector is a dropout; here the latch holds firm under vibration. The board lock adds a mechanical anchor to the through-hole solder joint, resisting shear force from cable strain during assembly or field service.
Current rating and plating: what 3 A means in practice
Rated 3 A per contact, limited by the thermoplastic housing (UL94 V-0) — not the brass pin itself. Operating range -65°C to 105°C. The post is tin-lead for solderability.
