Between-Series Adapter: SMA Jack to TNC Jack
The TE Connectivity 1057841-1 is a between-series RF adapter that converts from an SMA jack, female socket to a TNC jack, female socket. It is a straight, panel-mount adapter with a flange for bulkhead or chassis installation.
What the Construction Tells You
The stainless steel body gives this adapter the mechanical stiffness to survive panel-mount torque and cable strain without distorting the center conductor alignment. PTFE dielectric keeps insertion loss stable from DC through the rated band — it doesn't cold-flow or absorb moisture the way some lower-cost dielectrics do. Beryllium copper contacts with gold plating are standard for RF adapters that need repeatable mating over hundreds of cycles; the gold prevents oxidation on the mating interface, and beryllium copper retains its spring force so the female center contacts keep good grip on the male pin after many connects.
Both adapter ends use threaded fastening — SMA on the convert-from side, TNC on the convert-to side. The panel mount uses a flange with clearance holes for two screws; the adapter body passes through the panel cutout and the flange seats against the outside face. Hand-tight should seal it for most indoor environments, but if the panel sees vibration, a torque wrench on the SMA and TNC coupling nuts is worth the extra minute — a half-turn loose is a dropout on a sensitive receive line.
