26-Position Superseal Plug Housing for Harness Builds
The TE Connectivity 1473712-1 is a 26-position plug housing from the Superseal series, built for sealed wire-to-wire interconnects in demanding environments. It carries two rows of female socket cavities and uses a latch lock for positive retention under vibration. The housing is moulded from Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS), rated for continuous operation from -40°C to 125°C — a material choice that handles underhood heat and exposure to oils, fuels, and coolants better than standard nylon. This is a housing only — contacts are ordered separately and crimped into the cavities using the matching Superseal female terminals. The 2-row layout and 26 circuits suit medium-density harness junctions where a single connector replaces two smaller ones, reducing splice points and assembly time.
Wiring and Contact Selection
Because contacts are not included, the build requires selecting the correct Superseal female crimp terminal for the wire gauge. The housing accepts the standard Superseal socket contacts, typically used with 0.5 to 1.0 mm² wire in automotive harnesses. The crimp termination gives a gas-tight connection when the terminal is fully seated and the secondary lock engaged — no solder, no field rework. The free-hanging (in-line) mounting style means this housing mates with the corresponding Superseal header or receptacle without panel cutouts. The latch lock provides an audible click when fully mated, a useful field check for harness assembly lines.
