2-Position SQUIB Plug Housing for Airbag Systems
It uses a 0.122" (3.10mm) pitch, single-row layout, and mates with the corresponding SQUIB header via a latch lock. The orange housing is molded from PBT and includes a Terminal Position Lock (TPA) feature that secures the female socket contacts after crimp termination, preventing back-out in high-vibration automotive environments.
The 2-position count matches the two-wire loop typical of a squib initiator circuit — one fire line and one return. The 3.10mm pitch is wider than a standard signal connector, providing the creepage distance needed for the 12V automotive bus without risk of flashover. The TPA (Terminal Position Lock) is a secondary lock that engages after the crimp terminals are inserted; it prevents the contact from backing out if the primary latch is not fully seated, a critical reliability feature for a safety-restraint circuit. The orange color is a visual cue used by some OEMs to distinguish squib circuits from other harness connectors.
