The housing accepts tab-type crimp contacts (sold separately) and secures the mating plug with a latch lock, which keeps the pair together under the vibration you'd see in an industrial cabinet or automotive harness. The natural PA66 (Nylon 6/6) housing is rated for -30°C to 105°C operation, so it's at home under the hood or inside a panel near a heat source. Panel-mount, snap-in installation means it clips into a cutout without hardware — quick to assemble, but you need the panel thickness right for the snap fingers to engage.
Contacts Not Included — Plan the Full BOM
The tab contacts that go inside it are ordered separately — the listing note is clear on that. For a production build, you'll need to source the mating crimp terminals (TE's Universal Power series tab contacts) and the matching plug housing to complete the wire-to-wire or wire-to-board interconnect. Factor that into your BOM line; the housing alone is only half the connector.
Mating Half and Latch Lock Retention
That latch is the only retention; if the harness sees constant flexing or high-G shock, consider adding a secondary tie-down or strain relief at the panel. The snap-in panel mount holds the housing in place, but the latch keeps the mated pair together.
