USB-A Stacked Receptacle — What It Is
The shielded brass shell and gold-plated contacts handle the standard USB differential pair plus power and ground lines.
This part is marked Obsolete in the lifecycle record.
Fit and Compatibility Check
The 8-contact arrangement is standard for a dual-port USB-A receptacle — each port uses four contacts (VBUS, D-, D+, GND). The vertical through-hole mounting puts the mating face perpendicular to the PCB, so the USB plug inserts straight in from above. The USB 2.0 specification means this connector is not rated for the higher data rates of USB 3.0 (5 Gbps) or USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gbps); it supports the 480 Mbps full-speed and 12 Mbps full-speed signalling of USB 2.0. The shielded shell mates with standard USB-A plugs; the board lock provides mechanical retention during the solder process and resists plug-unplug shear forces.
