What This Housing Is and What It Needs
The 185001-3: It is a free-hanging (in-line) housing with a single row of cavities, a latch lock for secure mating, and a blue PBT glass-filled insulation body. This housing accepts crimp-terminated male pins that are ordered separately — the housing itself does not include contacts. The latch lock provides positive retention against vibration in harness assemblies — it clicks when fully mated with the matching receptacle.
Mating and Termination — Don't Order Half a Connection
This housing mates with the corresponding TE receptacle housing in the same 5.00 mm ML series — the latch lock engages with the mating half's locking ramp. The housing accepts male pin contacts terminated to wire via crimp tooling; the specific contact part numbers are listed in the TE application tooling documentation for this series. Because contacts are not included with this housing, each BOM line must specify both the housing and the terminal part numbers. The crimp termination is field-installable with standard hand tools or semi-automatic presses, making this housing practical for custom harness lengths and repair loops.
