Press-Fit RJ45 for Backplane and Panel-Mount Ethernet
The press-fit termination pushes compliant pins into plated through-holes — no reflow profile, no wave solder, no thermal stress on the board. The housing carries a full shield with an EMI finger that contacts the panel cutout or chassis ground. For a Cat5e-rated channel, that finger is what keeps the common-mode noise from coupling into the signal pairs — skip the panel ground and you lose the rating. The single-port, single-row layout keeps the footprint compact: one 8P8C position, no stacked or ganged ports.
Mounting Options and Board Fit
This jack supports three mounting methods: board edge, panel mount, and through-hole. The board-edge option lets the RJ45 sit flush with the PCB outline — useful for a mezzanine card that plugs into a backplane. The panel-mount variant uses the same body but adds a flange that screws or snaps into a cutout, so the jack stays fixed while the board is removed. The through-hole legs provide the mechanical anchor; the press-fit pins handle the signal connections. The thermoplastic housing is RoHS compliant. No LED indicator is fitted — if you need link/activity lights on the port, you add them on the board or use a different jack variant.
