What This 3-Position Plug Does in a Panel
The 1986375-3 is a 3-position plug with female sockets, designed for free-hanging (in-line) termination using a screw-type rising cage clamp. It accepts wire from 14 to 30 AWG (0.05 to 2 mm²) and is rated for 11 A at 300 V, with a single-level construction and 270° wire entry for flexible routing in tight enclosures.
Side Stacking and Pitch Compatibility
A key feature is side stacking, allowing multiple 1986375-3 units to be ganged together without extra hardware, creating multi-position assemblies while maintaining the 0.150" (3.81mm) pitch per circuit. This pitch is not compatible with 3.5mm pitch headers — the 0.31mm difference prevents proper mating and risks contact damage.
Termination and Wiring Details
Termination is via a screw - rising cage clamp with M2 screw size. The rising cage clamp lifts the wire against a clamping plate, providing a gas-tight connection for stranded or solid wire. The 270° wire entry angle allows the cable to exit at a right angle relative to the plug insertion axis, useful when panel depth is limited.
