The 2-1445099-3 is single-row, 3.00mm pitch, and SMT — so it suits lower-density, surface-mount designs where the 1-1871673-2 would require a through-hole process and a different board footprint. Both headers share the Micro MATE-N-LOK locking ramp and board-lock features, but the 2-1445099-3 uses gold on the mating interface while the 1-1871673-2 uses tin. For applications needing more than a few mating cycles, the gold-plated 2-1445099-3 is the better choice.
