It's a free-hanging (in-line) crimp housing — you terminate wires with the matching crimp socket contacts and snap them into the cavities.
Critical Note: Contacts Are Sold Separately
This is the single most common sourcing mistake on this part — the housing ships empty. You need to order the Dynamic D-3200 crimp socket terminals separately. The TE part numbers for the contacts are typically 1-178128-* series (e.g., 1-178128-2 for 20-24 AWG gold, 1-178128-1 for tin), but confirm the exact wire gauge and plating grade against your application. Without the terminals, you have a plastic shell that does nothing.
This receptacle mates with the Dynamic D-3200 series plug header (typically TE part numbers starting with 1-178128-* for the header housing, with the matching pin contacts).
