The part is ROHS3 compliant, and the polyamide (nylon) housing carries Glow Wire Compliance.
This header mates with a matching TE receptacle housing (not included) that accepts the corresponding crimp terminals. The through-hole solder termination is straightforward for wave-solder assembly.
Comparison to 1-2232960-3
The 1-2232960-3 is a 3-position header on a 2.50 mm pitch, rated 2 A at 50 VAC, with tin-plated contacts and a locking ramp instead of a latch holder. The 2-1971846-2 is a different form-factor — 5.00 mm pitch, 20 A, silver contacts — so it is not a direct functional substitute. The only overlap is the through-hole, shrouded 4-wall construction and UL94 V-0 material. If you need a 2-position power header at 5.00 mm pitch, the 2-1971846-2 is the correct part; the 1-2232960-3 is a lower-current, finer-pitch signal connector.
