The TE Connectivity 2-215570-4 is a 24-position, dual-row ribbon cable DIP header from the Micro-MaTch series. The housing is red, and the contacts are tin-plated. This is a through-hole, press-fit header — no soldering required for the board-side connection, which saves a reflow step in assembly.
Board and Cable Fit — What the Pitches Mean
The cable-side pitch of 0.050" (1.27 mm) is the standard spacing for 28 AWG ribbon cable — the IDC termination pierces the insulation and makes contact in one press operation. The feed-through feature means the IDC slots pass all the way through the body, which lets you daisy-chain or pass the ribbon cable through to another header if needed.
Termination is IDC to 28 AWG stranded or solid ribbon cable — you need a ribbon cable press tool (not a hand crimper) to seat the cable in one stroke. The board side uses through-hole press-fit pins: the pins are compliant enough to hold in plated through-holes without solder, which is handy for rework or if you want to avoid wave solder on a mixed-technology board.
