That means you can build the harness with either terminal style depending on the mating receptacle design. The Universal MATE-N-LOK terminal family includes stamped-and-formed pins and sockets in several wire gauge ranges; select the terminal that matches your wire size and current requirement.
Polarization and keying
The Universal MATE-N-LOK housing is polarized — the cavity shape prevents inserting a contact into the wrong position, and the mating interface is keyed so the plug only mates with the matching receptacle in one orientation. The latch lock audibly clicks when fully seated, giving a tactile confirmation that the pair is locked against vibration.
