Board-to-Wire Header for Simple Power and Signal Runs
Termination is through-hole solder, with a contact length of 0.125" (3.18mm) on the post side — this fits standard 1.6mm PCBs with enough protrusion for a solid solder fillet. This orientation is common for edge-mounted connectors where the cable routes along the board surface. A board guide feature assists alignment during assembly, reducing the risk of skewed placement during wave soldering.
Tin-Plated Contacts for Cost-Effective General Duty
Tin is suitable for applications with infrequent mating cycles (typically under 25 cycles) and non-corrosive environments. For higher cycle counts or harsh atmospheres, gold-plated variants in the MTA-156 family are available. In practice, for 18 AWG wire the contact can handle around 5-7 A, but always refer to the specific wire derating for the application.
