What This Plug Housing Does in the Harness
It is the free-hanging (in-line) half of the VAL-U-LOK system, designed to mate with a corresponding VAL-U-LOK header.
The One Thing You Must Know Before Ordering
This housing ships without contacts. For the VAL-U-LOK system, that means TE part numbers in the 2029180 series terminal family. A common choice is the 2029180-1 or 2029180-2 pin terminal, rated for 20-24 AWG wire. The housing alone is just the plastic shell.
The 2029180-5 mates with a VAL-U-LOK header — typically a vertical or right-angle through-hole header with 5 pins on 4.20mm pitch. When you push the plug home, the ramp snaps over the header latch and holds the pair together. A half-turn loose is not an issue here — the ramp is a positive lock, not a friction fit. For a field-service tech, that means you hear and feel the click when it seats. If the ramp is not fully engaged, vibration can back the plug off over time.
