UHF (Ultra High Frequency) is a threaded-coupling design originally developed for lower-frequency RF applications, and this plug mates with the standard UHF female jack (SO-239 pattern). It ships as a three-piece kit: the connector body, a collar, and a ferrule, all in a single Bulk package.
This plug is built for RG-58, 58A, 58B, and 58C cables — the 0.195-inch diameter foam-polyethylene dielectric coax common in two-way radio, CB, and low-power RF feeds. The center contact material is brass with a tin plating; the body is brass with a nickel finish.
Electrical and Mechanical Ratings
Rated at 500 V and 500 MHz maximum — this is not a 50-ohm constant-impedance connector (the impedance is listed as non-constant), so it is suited for applications where the signal bandwidth stays below UHF broadcast and land-mobile frequencies. The dielectric is polypropylene.
TE Connectivity lists the 226279-1 as Obsolete. No official replacement order code is published by the manufacturer. For a long-term production requirement, an evaluation of a current UHF-series plug from TE or a compatible alternative should be considered.
