It uses a locking ramp fastening system and is polarized to prevent mis-mating — a deliberate choice for harnesses that get field-serviced under time pressure.
Locking Ramp and Polarized Keying — Vibration Duty
The polarized housing geometry means a 180°-rotated plug won't seat, which is the kind of mistake that shorts a harness in the field. For a 2-position connector, the polarization is a simple but effective safeguard.
This housing accepts a male tab contact (crimp termination, contacts not included). It mates with the corresponding MATEnet female receptacle housing — the series uses a common interface, so the female half shares the same locking ramp and pitch. The free-hanging mounting means it's a wire-to-wire or wire-to-device connector, not a board-mount. Confirm the female housing order code from the MATEnet series to complete the mating pair.
