2.50 mm Sealed Plug Housing for Harness Builds
Glow Wire and Sealed — What That Means for the Build
The glow wire compliant rating (per IEC 60335-1) means the housing material will not sustain ignition under a 850°C glow-wire test — a requirement for household appliances and lighting fixtures that see internal fault current. The sealed designation indicates the housing accepts a peripheral seal (gasket or O-ring, not included) when mated with the corresponding receptacle, giving the assembly an IP rating for splash or dust resistance in damp environments. Together, these two features let you run this connector inside an appliance enclosure without a secondary potting step.
The series accepts TE's SDL 2.5 crimp terminals (typically 20-24 AWG, tin or gold plated depending on the application). When sourcing this housing for a harness build, add the correct terminal part number to the BOM to avoid a line-down situation. The latch holder and the housing geometry are designed to work only with the SDL 2.5 contact family.
