Latch Lock and Free-Hanging Mount
The free-hanging (in-line) mount means this housing is not panel- or board-mounted; it sits on the wire harness and mates to a header soldered to the PCB. For field service, the latch is tool-releasable, so the harness can be swapped without prying.
The HPI series uses a specific contact family; the mating male pins are on the header side. The housing itself has no contacts pre-loaded, so the BOM must include the correct socket terminal part number for the wire gauge being used.
