This is an in-line, free-hanging housing — it does not mount to a PCB. Its job is to terminate a 6-conductor cable harness that plugs into a board-mounted header.
Pitch, Positions, and the Locking Ramp — What Drives Fit
The 6 positions are arranged in a single row — no second row to misalign. For a harness that sees machine vibration or occasional tugging, that ramp is the difference between a connection that stays and one that walks loose.
Termination and Contact Reality
Crimp termination is the only option here — the housing accepts the AMPMODU Mod II crimp socket contacts (sold separately). The contacts are inserted from the rear and retained by a lance in the housing cavity. No soldering, no IDC. The wire gauge range depends on which specific contact you select; the housing itself doesn't restrict it beyond the contact's own wire range. The black color is standard for the Mod II line and has no functional impact.
Sourcing and Lifecycle — Still in Production
It remains a standard catalog item from TE Connectivity — no obsolescence notice, no last-time-buy pressure. The base product number is 2803, and the full 6-position variant is 280360.
