6-position, 2.54mm pitch, friction-lock header
The 281695-6 is a single-row, 6-position header from TE's HE13/HE14 series, designed for board-to-cable/wire connections. The friction lock provides positive retention against vibration — a practical feature for equipment where the cable assembly sees movement, such as in industrial control panels or test fixtures. The tin-on-tin contact interface is suited for applications with limited mating cycles, keeping per-unit cost lower than gold-plated alternatives.
Mating half and termination
This header mates with a corresponding HE13/HE14 series receptacle housing (crimp or IDC type) that accepts the same 0.100" pitch. The friction lock engages with a matching ramp on the receptacle, providing an audible click when fully seated. Termination is through-hole solder, with a contact length - post of 0.114" (2.90mm) — standard for a 1.6mm PCB.
