Vertical 8-Pin Header for Board-to-Wire
The 281739-4: It's a shrouded-2 wall design with a friction lock, meant for board-to-cable/wire applications where a positive mate is needed without a separate locking clip. The tin-on-tin contact finish (mating and post) is a solid choice for cost-sensitive builds where mating cycles stay moderate — gold would be overkill for a fixed harness that gets connected once or twice in its service life.
What the Shrouding and Lock Mean on the Line
No secondary latch, but for a 8-position header in a low-vibration cabinet or control box, it's enough. Through-hole solder termination keeps the header anchored to the board — the 0.114" (2.90mm) post length is enough for a standard 1.6mm PCB with a through-hole solder joint.
