Use this where the mating receptacle has its own alignment features or where the connector pair is fixture-assembled.
Gold-Plated Mating Surface — Cycle Life and Signal Duty
For a board-to-board interconnect that is mated a handful of times over the product life, this is adequate. If the design calls for frequent reconnection (50+ cycles) or a corrosive environment, step up to a thicker gold (15 µin or higher) or a shrouded header with a more robust contact system. No galvanic compatibility concern with HASL or ENIG pads.
Current and Voltage — Signal-Level Duty
For a typical digital or low-power analogue signal (GPIO, I2C, SPI, sensor output), this is well within the margin. Do not use for motor drive or solenoid power.
This covers most automotive interior (non-engine-bay) and industrial cabinet environments where the ambient can reach 85°C and the connector sees occasional heat soak to 125°C.
Surface-mount termination with a pick-and-place feature (vacuum pickup area) — this header is designed for automated assembly. The tape-and-reel packaging (available as TR or cut tape) feeds directly into a pick-and-place machine. No hand-soldering required; the SMT pads reflow with the rest of the board.
