It uses a rising cage clamp termination — turning the M3 screw pulls a brass clamp plate up against the wire, creating a gas-tight connection that handles solid or stranded conductors from 14 AWG down to 30 AWG.
Interlocking Side Feature for Ganging
Each 284391-3 block has an interlocking (side) feature that lets you snap multiple blocks together side-by-side without extra brackets or end plates. This builds a multi-position strip at the same 3.50 mm pitch — useful when your BOM calls for more than three circuits but you want to keep a single continuous footprint on the PCB. The interlock is mechanical only; electrical continuity between blocks is handled by your PCB traces or jumpers.
Termination and Torque Specs
The rising cage clamp accepts stripped wire directly into the clamp opening. The M3 screw has a recommended torque of 0.25 Nm (2.2 Lb-In) — overtightening can strip the brass threads or deform the clamp plate. Both the screw and clamp are brass with nickel plating, which resists corrosion in industrial cabinet environments.
