Board-to-Cable Header for 2mm Pitch SMD Layouts
The 292171-9: The shrouded 3-wall housing with a detent lock provides positive retention against cable pull and moderate vibration, while the surface-mount solder tails allow reflow assembly without through-hole holes. Tin-plated mating contacts are suited for low-cycle applications where cost matters more than high-durability gold. The insulation height of 0.307" (7.80 mm) gives clearance for the mating receptacle's latch.
This header mates with TE CT series crimp-style receptacle housings (e.g., 292170-x or similar 2.00 mm pitch single-row housings). The build-to-print BOM needs both the header and the matching receptacle plus loose crimp terminals — the terminals are sold separately. Termination is solder-only for the header side; the receptacle side uses crimp contacts for discrete wire.
