What this 2mm-pitch SMD header does on your board
The 292172-6 is a 6-position, single-row header from TE's CT series, designed for board-to-cable/wire connections. Its 2.00mm pitch sets the PCB footprint and the per-contact current ceiling — the actual current rating varies by wire gauge, so the limiting factor is the terminal and wire, not the header itself. The shrouded 3-wall housing protects the male pins during mating and prevents misalignment with the receptacle. Surface-mount termination with a detent lock means the header stays seated during reflow and resists vibration once mated.
Mating and termination checklist
Mates with a CT series receptacle housing that accepts the matching crimp terminal — the detent lock provides audible feedback on full engagement. The 0.177" (4.50mm) mating pin length ensures contact wipe before lock. SMT termination: the header ships in a tube (not tape-and-reel), so plan for tube-fed placement or manual loading on the line.
