What This Ring Nut Does in the Nector M Assembly
The TE Connectivity 293660-6 is a ring nut from the Nector M series, designed as a cable-retention accessory for plug and receptacle housings in that family. It clamps down on a cable up to 10.45 mm in diameter, securing the cable entry against pull-out and strain at the connector back end. The natural glass-filled nylon body (Polyamide PA, glass filled) gives it the mechanical stiffness to hold the cable without cracking under the tightening torque, while staying light enough not to overhang the housing.
Cable Fit and Retention
The 10.45 mm cable diameter acceptance is the dimension that decides fit — if your cable jacket is larger than that, this ring nut will not close fully. The ring nut works with the Nector M plug and receptacle housings that accept 5, 6, and 7 positions, so the cable diameter, not the contact count, is the binding constraint. Cable retention is built into the nut's internal geometry; it compresses a gland or collet (not included) against the cable jacket when tightened.
