Gold Mating Surface and Current Rating
In the MTA-100 system, the mating receptacle's crimp terminal and wire size set the actual ampacity; the header contact can carry the full rated current of the wire up to the housing's UL94 V-0 thermal limit.
Peer Comparison: 0.100" vs 0.079" Pitch
A common cross-shop is the TE CT series header 1-292164-1, which is also a right-angle through-hole single-row header but at 0.079" (2.00mm) pitch with 11 positions and tin mating finish. The 0.100" pitch of the MTA-100 is the more traditional grid — easier to route on 2-layer boards — while the 0.079" pitch packs more circuits per inch. The gold mating finish on the 3-641127-6 also gives it a mating cycle advantage over the tin-plated CT header.
