IDC Termination — What 24 AWG and the 80 µ" Tin Plating Mean
The IDC termination accepts 24 AWG solid or stranded wire. This plating grade is suited for applications with few mating cycles; tin is the right choice for a permanent or semi-permanent harness connection where the receptacle is mated once and left in place. Because the housing is closed-end, the tines do not extend past the back wall. That matters when the receptacle is routed in a tight panel cavity or against another board — no risk of the exposed tines shorting to adjacent conductors.
The 5-position count and single-row layout match a 5-pin header footprint. The locking ramp snaps over the header's latch ramp; the mate is audible and tactile. The white housing colour is the standard MTA-100 tint — no special keying, just visual identification on the harness.
