How It Compares to Similar Headers
That part adds vibration-resistant shrouding and a detent lock — useful if the mating cable sees constant flex or the board is in a high-shock environment. The trade-off is a wider footprint and a different pitch (0.098" vs 0.100"), so the board layout is not drop-in compatible. The 953440-3 is an automotive-grade 6-position shrouded header on the same 0.100-inch pitch but with a friction lock and mounting flange. It's rated 12V — fine for a 12V automotive bus, but not for a 250VAC line. The MTA-100 header is a better fit for general-purpose AC applications.
