The 316516-5 is a 12-position, 2-row vertical header from TE's Dynamic D-3500 series, on a 5.08mm pitch with the same 5.08mm row spacing. The full 4-wall shroud protects the tab contacts and guides the mating plug, and the integrated board lock holds the header in place during wave solder — useful when the cable strain pulls on the mated assembly. Rated 600V and covering -55°C to 105°C, this header fits general-purpose and industrial equipment where the voltage and temperature margins matter more than fine-pitch density. The tin plating on both the mating surface and the post keeps cost down for moderate mating-cycle duty.
Board lock and shrouding for vibration resistance
The board lock feature anchors the header to the PCB through the through-hole solder joint, resisting the shear force from a mated cable plug under vibration.
