That pitch is tight enough to keep a 7-circuit wire bundle compact, but wide enough that the crimp terminals seat without fighting each other in the cavity. It's a free-hanging (in-line) housing — no board lock, no panel mount. You crimp the terminals onto the wires, insert them into the cavities, and the assembly mates with the corresponding header on the PCB.
