Unlike the shrouded 4-641216-1 (11 positions, gold-plated, friction lock), the 4-644457-2 is unshrouded — no plastic wall surrounds the pins. For applications requiring vibration-resistant locking, the shrouded sibling with a friction lock is the better choice. For simple, low-cost board-to-wire interconnects where space is tight, the unshrouded 4-644457-2 fits.
