Board Fit and Current Ceiling
The 5 A per-contact rating, with the gold mating surface, means the connector handles signal and moderate power without the temperature rise climbing past the housing material limit.
Surface-mount, right-angle orientation — the header sits perpendicular to the PCB, which saves z-height and works well for board-edge cable exits. The ramp provides audible feedback on full mate and resists vibration-induced separation. Termination is solder — the SMT pads are reflowed in a standard lead-free profile. The tin-plated post finish (100 µinch) is compatible with SAC305 solder.
The 4-794626-2 is a smaller-pitch, lower-profile SMT part for denser boards; the 4-1775099-7 handles higher current (9 A) and is through-hole for higher mechanical retention. They are not pin-compatible — the pitch and circuit count differ.
