SMB Plug for RG-178/196 — 50 Ohm, Snap-On, Obsolete
The 413985-6: The snap-on fastening gives quick, tool-less mating with the corresponding SMB jack, and the nickel-plated brass body provides RF shielding. Gold plating on the beryllium copper center contact handles repeated connect cycles — rated for 500 matings — without signal degradation.
Ratings and Operating Envelope
The 4 GHz ceiling covers L-band and S-band applications, including GPS, Wi-Fi, and cellular bands below 4 GHz. Insertion loss is held to 0.3 dB across the band, a tight spec for a crimp-style connector. Voltage rating is 335 V, which is generous for the signal levels typical on SMB links.
Cable and Termination
This kit is built for RG-178 and RG-196 — both 50 Ohm coax cables. The contact can be crimped or soldered; the shield termination is crimp-only via the included ferrule.
