SMB Plug for RG-178/196 — 50 Ohm, 4 GHz
The 414002-8: It terminates RG-178 and RG-196 coaxial cables — the two most common miniature coax types for tight-bend RF routing inside enclosures.
The 4 GHz maximum frequency covers L-band through C-band edge — enough for GPS, Wi-Fi, cellular, and most telemetry links. The 0.6 dB insertion loss at that ceiling is typical for a crimp-terminated SMB plug; the loss budget comes mostly from the cable-to-connector transition, not the interface itself. If your link runs above 4 GHz, step to an SMA or MCX connector — the SMB interface geometry starts to radiate past that point.
Cable Termination and Kit Contents
The shield terminates by crimping the ferrule over the braid; the center conductor solders into the contact. RG-178 and RG-196 are the only cable groups listed.
