The 414373-1: The bayonet lock provides quarter-turn coupling for quick mate/demate with positive retention — standard for BNC interfaces in instrumentation, test equipment, and telecom infrastructure.
At 4 GHz, the BNC interface reaches its practical bandwidth limit; above this frequency, the slot in the outer conductor and the dielectric bead introduce mode conversion that degrades VSWR. For systems operating below 1 GHz, this connector provides ample headroom with minimal insertion loss. The right-angle orientation introduces a small impedance discontinuity at the launch — the PCB trace width and dielectric height should be designed to match the 50 Ohm target through the transition. The 500 V rating covers the typical signal levels in RF systems; the limiting factor is the dielectric breakdown of the PMP insulator at higher voltages.
The bayonet lock requires clearance for the coupling nut rotation during mating. The zinc body provides a rigid mount; no additional board lock or strain relief is needed for typical cable weights.
