The 5-146258-7: The breakaway design lets you snap the header to the exact position count you need — useful when a 14-position BOM line calls for a single row or odd count. Because the header is unshrouded, the receptacle must provide the polarization and alignment — a shrouded header would give you that guidance on the pin side, but this part keeps the board footprint smaller.
Current, Plating, and Temperature Range
Tin is fine for signal-level currents and occasional mating, but if your application cycles the connector more than 50–100 times, the tin frets and contact resistance drifts. The LCP housing carries UL94 V-0 flammability rating, so it passes the vertical burn test for equipment inside an enclosure.
