Adapter identity and function
The TE Connectivity 5-1634537-1 is an F-to-F coaxial adapter that converts a male plug interface to a female jack interface within the same series. The right-angle body routes the cable 90 degrees from the mating axis, which clears tight enclosures or panel edges where a straight adapter would not fit. Both ends use threaded coupling — the coupling nut on the plug side and the jack body threads on the other — so the adapter stays mated under vibration without additional retention hardware. The body is machined from brass with a nickel finish, and the center contacts are plated with nickel and tin. The dielectric is polyoxymethylene (POM) acetal, a rigid thermoplastic that holds the centre contact concentric for consistent impedance through the adapter. Packaged in bulk.

The right-angle orientation means the plug and jack axes are perpendicular.
The brass body and nickel finish provide corrosion resistance for indoor equipment racks and consumer electronics enclosures. The POM acetal dielectric is a stable RF insulator — it does not absorb moisture the way nylon can, so the adapter's impedance stays consistent in humid storage or non-condensing indoor environments. The nickel and tin centre contact plating is adequate for signal-level currents at frequencies where gold is not required; it is a standard plating choice for F-type adapters used in CATV, satellite, and antenna distribution.
