The 3-Circuit Glow Wire Housing That's Easy to Overlook in a BOM
The TE Connectivity 5-2232263-3 is a 3-position, single-row receptacle housing from the Power Triple Lock, Glow Wire series. It's a gray polyamide shell with a 6.00mm pitch, designed to accept tab-type crimp contacts that are ordered separately — the housing itself is just the insulator and latch. The Glow Wire Compliant rating (per IEC 60335-1) is what sets this variant apart from standard Power Triple Lock housings: it's the version you spec when the end equipment must pass a glow-wire ignition test, common in household appliances and HVAC controls.
Mating Contacts and Harness Assembly
The housing accepts tab-type crimp contacts (sold separately) — the exact TE part number depends on wire gauge and plating preference. The crimp termination means the contacts are attached to wires first, then inserted into the housing cavities until the latch lock engages. The latch lock on the housing provides audible and tactile feedback when mated with the corresponding Power Triple Lock plug, and the snap-in panel mount secures the assembly in a chassis cutout. For field replacement, the latch releases without tools, and the contacts can be extracted with a proper removal tool.
