Unshrouded Push-Pull — What That Means on the Board
No shroud means the pins are exposed. If the mating receptacle is not keyed, you can mis-mate 180° out. On a 50-pin header that's a risk; double-check the harness orientation before stuffing the board. The push-pull fastening is just friction retention. In a stationary backplane or a board that doesn't see shock or vibration, it's fine. If this header sits on a panel that gets rattled by a fan or a door slam, the mating receptacle needs a positive lock — or you'll be re-seating loose connections on site.
Peer 953440-3 is a 6-position, dual-row, right-angle shrouded header with a mounting flange — again, a different form factor. Neither is a drop-in replacement for the 50-pin unshrouded vertical header.
