Product details

High-voltage SHV jack for test and instrumentation

The TE Connectivity 51494-2 is a Coaxicon-series SHV (Safe High Voltage) jack with a male pin contact, designed for panel-mount applications where a bayonet-lock interface and a 5000 V rating are required. It is a 1-port, bulkhead-mounted connector with a rear-side nut, accepting RG-59 and RG-62 coaxial cable groups via a solder cup termination on the centre contact.

What the 5000 V rating means for your application

The SHV interface is physically keyed to prevent mating with standard BNC or MHV connectors. The PTFE dielectric and extended insulation provide the creepage and clearance needed for the 5000 V rating.

Kit contents and panel-mount hardware

The lockwasher and nut are the panel-mount hardware for the bulkhead — you do not need to source them separately. The mounting feature is bulkhead rear-side nut, meaning the connector body passes through the panel from the outside and the nut tightens from the inside. The bayonet lock on the mating interface provides a quick-connect/disconnect with positive retention, rated for 500 mating cycles.

Cable termination and preparation

The centre contact terminates via solder cup — you tin the centre conductor of the RG-59 cable and solder it into the cup. The shield terminates to the body via a solder tab.

Frequently asked questions

Does 51494-2 include the lockwasher and nut?

Yes, the 51494-2 ships as a 3-piece kit that includes the connector body, one lockwasher, and one nut.

What cable group works with 51494-2?

The 51494-2 is designed for RG-59 and RG-62 coaxial cables, terminated via a solder cup on the centre pin and a solder tab for the shield.

What is the difference between 51494-2 and 51494-1?

The 51494-2 and 51494-1 are both Coaxicon SHV jacks; the difference is in the included hardware or plating variant. The 51494-2 includes the lockwasher and nut as a 3-piece kit.
