The 75 Ohm impedance is the key spec that separates this from a standard 50 Ohm BNC. At 75 Ohm, this jack is built for video distribution — CCTV cameras, broadcast monitors, baseband video patching — not RF/data applications like cellular or Wi-Fi where 50 Ohm is the norm. The 2 GHz max frequency covers analog video (which lives below 10 MHz) and digital SDI at 1.485 Gbps (3G-SDI) comfortably, but it will not support 6 GHz or 12G-SDI. The 0.15 dB insertion loss per mated pair is low enough that a single connector in the video path is negligible; stack a dozen patch points and the loss adds up.
The bayonet lock mates with a quarter-turn — no threads to cross, fast to connect and disconnect, but less vibration-resistant than a threaded SMA or TNC. The nickel-plated zinc body handles indoor and dry outdoor use; for wet or washdown environments, you would want a sealed BNC or a threaded connector.
