What this shunt jumper does on the board
The 531230-1 is a 2-position open-top shunt jumper from TE Connectivity AMP Connectors, designed to bridge adjacent header pins on a 0.200" (5.08 mm) pitch. The 100.0 µin tin-lead contact finish is significantly thicker than the standard 30–50 µin flash found on many shunts. This thickness provides extended corrosion resistance and maintains stable contact resistance over repeated mating cycles — useful for boards that see multiple programming or test insertions during manufacturing.
This part is RoHS non-compliant due to the tin-lead contact finish. It cannot be used in assemblies requiring RoHS exemption-free compliance, but remains suitable for legacy designs, military/aerospace, or other lead-exempt applications.
Mating and board fit details
Mates with any 0.200" pitch male header pins — square or round, 0.025" square posts are typical. The open-top design allows probing or visual inspection of the mated connection. The 0.250" (6.35 mm) height above the board keeps the shunt low-profile, suitable for tight card-to-card spacing or under a mezzanine board. Supplied in strip packaging for hand placement or automated assembly. The black color aids visual identification on populated boards.
