This is the orientation you want when the board edge faces a backplane or when the connector needs to sit flush against a panel cutout — the 0.115" (2.92 mm) post length gives enough standoff for a clean solder fillet on a standard 0.062" board. Insulation height is 0.238" (6.05 mm) — the space between the board surface and the bottom of the housing. That's the clearance you need to plan for under the connector when routing traces or placing components on the opposite side. In a low-vibration environment like a stationary control cabinet, that's fine. If the board sees shock or constant cable movement, you'll want a header with a latch or a secondary lock.
